Cades Cove
The Smoky Mountains National Park attracts millions of visitors yearly and no other feature in the GSMNP attracts more interest than Cades Cove, nestled between the majestic peaks of the Smokies. Cades Cove is a sampler of all the Park has to offer and here you will find wildlife, campgrounds, horse camps, picnic grounds, hiking trails, trout streams, preserved settlers cabins and outbuildings.
Visitors can experience a self-guided tour and travel the 11-mile loop road to access the many exhibits, hikes, meadows, mountain views and wildlife. Cades Cove Loop road is open to auto, bicycle and foot traffic every day of the year from sunup to sundown with a couple of exceptions. The GSMNP has set aside May through September on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the loop is reserved for hikers and bicyclists only from sunup to 10am. Auto traffic on those days is permitted in Cades Cove after 10am. Expect to spend one to two hours for the Cades Cove auto tour including a few stops along the way.
