Abrams Falls

Abrams Falls is the reward for a 5-mile round-trip hike that begins in Cades Cove, near the half-way point. Just park in the large parking area to the left of the store and mill, and you'll find the trailhead at the back of the parking area.

It's a great hike--moderate to challenging in sections--and passes several good trout fishing spots. In one such fishing area the stream bends horseshoe style away from the trail, accommodating the angler with a quiet spot to fish.

At the falls, you'll find a large pool that includes several large boulders where you can settle in and enjoy the roar of the falls and watch other hikers come from the trail to enjoy the cool spray.

A cautionary note: The rocks around the falls become slick from the moisture, so climbing is discouraged. There have been several serious falls and deaths from the rocks.
